Summary

This breathtaking sequel to The Beholder will take you on a journey into a darkly sparkling fairy tale, perfect for fans of The Selection and Caraval

When Selah found true love with Prince Torden of Norway, she never imagined she’d have to leave him behind。 All because the Beholder’s true mission was a secret Selah’s crew didn’t trust her to keep: transporting weapons to the rebels fighting against the brutal tsarytsya, whose shadow looms over their next port of Shvartsval’d。 A place Selah hoped she’d never go。

But gone is the girl who departed Potomac filled with fear。 With a stockpile of weapons belowdecks and her heart hanging in the balance, Selah is determined to see the Beholder’s quest to its end。

Neither did the stepmother or the doctor。。。 Instead of wasting a good third of the book having the girls stuck in Baba Yaga‘s tower doing basically nothing, there could have been an epic battle。 Or at least some more scheming。 But Selah doesn’t even think about a plan, she just relies on the others to get them out。 All that talk of „I‘m strong, I‘m not afraid anymore“ but everyone else does all the work and in the end she somehow manages to make it look like her achievement。Overall I enjoyed the book (although not as much as the first one) but there was a lot of wasted potential considering the part of the story when Baba Yaga came into play。 。。。more

This was a little difficult for me to finish it smoothly compare to book 1。 Why not Lang? Sigh。。。

Doubting whether its a 3 or 3。5 for me。 I enjoyed it better than I expected to。 Need to gather my thoughts on this one。

A rare case where the sequel is even better than the original。 Watching Selah’s character development was just a delight。 This book gives you all the feels; Anna knows how to write。 I’m recommending this series wholeheartedly。 #teamtorden

I am obsessed with this duology。

Good book。 Pretty satisfying sequel。 Still confused as to why the author kept using names from classic fairy tales for her characters though。。。。 especially since the main character reads fairytales。

I was confused in that aspect of the story and with the mention of other stories。 I did not like that MC kept mentioning that she was some sort of damsel in distress。 Constantly always saying she needed saving。 Also, what was up with time period change? We went from fantasy/kingdoms to modern New York, oxford, literature, and college。 I feel Lang should have had a better redemption。 Even Torden's brother got a redemption to which he wasn't one of the main leads。 。。。more

3。5 starsThis was much heavier than the first book, and I preferred the light-heartedness of The Beholder。 I was, however, invested in how the story ended and I am glad I finished this one。 My biggest qualm about it is that I did not buy how a doctor did not realize that giving mercury to a person could kill them or that secondhand smoke is dangerous。 That scene was sloppily done but other than that, I did enjoy this series。

*3。5 starsI liked this。 It was fast paced and I felt like I flew through both books in this series。 However, I had some issues with the main character。 She was so tickled and switched from one love interest to another constantly。 All the love interests felt the same and her flip flopping was unnecessary。

I liked this book, maybe even more than the first one。 But I found the ending lacking。 The ending was just a bit boring and sooo wauw everything is fine and good and that just annoying me slightly。 But outside of that I liked it very much。 I liked the characters although they were all perfect, okay almost all。 I liked the political story line, I loved the strong girls in the story。 I just thought it would be better if it was written over 2 books and if the ending was different。 Still I really li I liked this book, maybe even more than the first one。 But I found the ending lacking。 The ending was just a bit boring and sooo wauw everything is fine and good and that just annoying me slightly。 But outside of that I liked it very much。 I liked the characters although they were all perfect, okay almost all。 I liked the political story line, I loved the strong girls in the story。 I just thought it would be better if it was written over 2 books and if the ending was different。 Still I really liked these 2 books。 They were fun to read and also a really fast read。 。。。more

4。5 StarsI have to say, I was surprised at some of the mature attitudes and lessons the main character, Selah, learns by the end of the book。 When faced with a state ruled by the cruel empress "Grandmother Wolf", Selah, and the reader's along with her, learns about the importance of self-expression and inner strength。 While there are aspects of love woven within the story, Selah chooses to love someone who sees her and her strengths, who empowers her。Why this love surprised me: earlier in the st 4。5 StarsI have to say, I was surprised at some of the mature attitudes and lessons the main character, Selah, learns by the end of the book。 When faced with a state ruled by the cruel empress "Grandmother Wolf", Selah, and the reader's along with her, learns about the importance of self-expression and inner strength。 While there are aspects of love woven within the story, Selah chooses to love someone who sees her and her strengths, who empowers her。Why this love surprised me: earlier in the story, Selah is presented with another man who loves her (yes, I know。 The fourth man in two books)。 But, his attitude towards her limits her ability to make her own choices。 Their relationship is deceitful and unhealthy。 Despite the spark between them, Selah ultimately chooses the healthier relationship, which I did not see coming。 I feel like many of the books I read put two people together in a relationship that wouldn't work in real life, and then the relationship just ends up working out。 This book set real expectations for relationships that may positively impact young readers entering relationships。There are many other lessons that I could talk about (and probably many more I'm not even picking up on), but the healthy love Selah chooses was my favorite。 Thank you Anna Bright, for writing a story that has many lessons if one is willing to look for them。 。。。more

The Beholder received a solid 4 stars from me, but The Boundless fell short at 3 stars。It is hard to put into words。 I still feel like this whole story could have been a trilogy。 Certain parts felt rushed。 I wanted to go deeper with certain characters - more on Cobie, Skop, Lang, etc。 The final battle felt short and unrealistic。 The one romantic fling just - ended。 And the "happily ever after" part didn't have to be as perfectly tied with a little bow (unless that was the point?)。As a mom of tee The Beholder received a solid 4 stars from me, but The Boundless fell short at 3 stars。It is hard to put into words。 I still feel like this whole story could have been a trilogy。 Certain parts felt rushed。 I wanted to go deeper with certain characters - more on Cobie, Skop, Lang, etc。 The final battle felt short and unrealistic。 The one romantic fling just - ended。 And the "happily ever after" part didn't have to be as perfectly tied with a little bow (unless that was the point?)。As a mom of teens - I loved Beholder for its focus on *clean* romantic scenes, but Boundless has very little romance and is heavier on darker topics (which I appreciate Anna Bright took a moment to chime in on this page to offer some disclosures!) Nothing too graphic in the violence, or anything worse than your kid would get in a book like Hunger Games or Divergent (IMO)。 But the overall feeling of the book is darker, violent, and dismal at times。 Other nitpicky things - I struggled with the names once she reached Baba Yaga's teritoriya。 And why was the book entitled "Boundless"? I missed the explanation/tie-in if there was one。 The good points? I loved Selah's character growth! The word building was great - and I felt the dialog was more fluid and natural。 I'm sad that it was only two books (Have I mentioned yet that I wish it had been three and paced/plotted differently? Oh, wait。 I did。 Sigh。) - the epilogue maybe would hint at a sequel or a novella, but it doesn't leave me with bated breath for another book。 Tied up most of the loose ends a little too perfectly for me。 Still a worthwhile read! 。。。more

I feel weird about this book。 I must say the first book had me intrigued about what could happen and how the characters would evolve and it felt a bit flat in my opinion。 The ending in itself left me satisfied and I'm okay with it but I couldn't get a grip on Selah I mean she was badass at one time and at another, she was just annoying and petty。I felt like the side characters were never really developed and in my opinion, it was missing because it's hard to understand their part in all this and I feel weird about this book。 I must say the first book had me intrigued about what could happen and how the characters would evolve and it felt a bit flat in my opinion。 The ending in itself left me satisfied and I'm okay with it but I couldn't get a grip on Selah I mean she was badass at one time and at another, she was just annoying and petty。I felt like the side characters were never really developed and in my opinion, it was missing because it's hard to understand their part in all this and I felt like there was such a big talk about rebels and revolution and fighting and like there was not a lot of fight at the end I mean a lot of plotting and politics but I felt they "won" a bit "easily" (I don't want to spoil anything) It was an okay read but I expected something different 。。。more

I tried over and over to finish this book and I couldn’t。 The first book grabbed my attention and I read it very quickly。 This one seemed very slow and the characters introduced had little to no personality。 The personalities they did have seemed similar to many secondary characters in YA books。 I could not force myself to finish it。

a little bit of everything。

Get your house slippers ready and PREPARE TO BE SHOOK! I dont think I have ever slammed a book down in utter shock as many times as I have reading this book。 Time and time again I had to take a lap to cool my racing heart from the jolt of these twists and turns。
